PASTOR PORTY AND MAGGIE 

 

Pastor Porty was born in Manila, Philippines, and came to know Christ as savior as a young boy through his parents and Sunday School. His family came to the US when he was 11, and settled in Los Angeles, CA. God used the faithful preaching of his father to show him his need to serve Christ as Lord. So at 16, he claimed Romans 12:1-2, and offered his life for God's purposes.

 

God used children's ministry to show him the value of serving in His Kingdom. As he went on to be a research developer in the biomed industry, God redirected his steps. In March 2003, A child he ministered to in VBS four years earlier tragically died. Porty saw how God used him in this child's life to impart the gospel truth. With his parent's support, Porty resigned, and pursued full time children's ministry. God has since paved the way for him to complete his training at The Master's Seminary.

 

Meanwhile, God brought a newly graduated nurse from Buffalo, NY to California. Maggie came to know Christ through the college ministry of Buffalo Chinese Christian Church. Maggie was born in Hawaii, and came to Queens, NY when she was 7. She grew up in a Catholic family and attended a Catholic school. God used Christian friends to show her God's Word in a difficult time in college. Looking back, she clearly sees how John 8:32 unfolded in her life; she found truth and it set her free- free from a works based righteousness to receive the free gift of God's righteousness in Jesus Christ.

 

God brought these two sinners to be one in the Lord on September 4, 2011, and has added two more (cute) sinners into their care- Joshua (3) and Jasmine (1). It is their joy to serve you this weekend, and pray that you'll come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and be built up in Him!
